Georgios Bartzokas, Euroleague Coach of the Year

MADRID, 14 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Olympiacos coach, the Greek Georgios Bartzokas, has been chosen, for the second consecutive season, as the best coach of the year in the Euroleague 2022-23 and has received the Alexander Gomelski trophy after leading his team to the ‘Final Four’.

Bartzokas thus becomes the second person to win the award three times and the first to win it in two consecutive seasons, after being chosen by his teammates on the bench from the rest of the EuroLeague teams.

Previously, he won the award in the 2012-13 season, his first season on the Olympiacos bench, after helping his team defend their Euroleague title in the ‘Final Four’ in London. The Greek was also chosen coach of the year in the 2021-22 season, when he guided Olympiacos to its first appearance in the ‘Final Four’ since 2017.

Olympiacos finished first in the regular season with a record of 24-10 and, after eliminating Fenerbahçe in the ‘Playoffs’ (3-2), taking the Hellenic team to its twelfth participation in a ‘Final Four’.
