Las celebrities from all over the world have gathered for another year on the carpet of the MET gala. On this occasion, the most important event in fashion was framed under the title Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beautya tribute to one of the most illustrious designers in the industry.
Our Penelope Cruzas co-host of the gala, dazzled in a wedding dress, with a Chanel bridal design, from 1988, to celebrate her “marriage” with her beloved Karl Lagerfeldcreative director of the maison from 1983 until his death on February 19, 2019.
Black and white were the colors that starred in the poses of celebrities, although there were the odd claim and controversial choice, such as red for Kylie Jenner. Next, we review the best and worst looks of the 2023 edition.
top five looks
1. Dua Lipa
The British singer turned heads in this Chanel Haute Couture tweed dress from 1992. And, as if that were not enough, she wore a Tiffany & Co. necklace, set with a diamond of more than 100 carats in the same shape as the iconic Tiffany yellow diamond.
2. Gisele Bündchen
Impeccable choice for the Brazilian model in this sheer white gown accented with vertical stripes of sequins and a full cape of feathers. A design she wore in 2007 at the Chanel Spring/Summer Haute Couture show.
3. Rihanna
The Met Gala isn’t over until Rihanna hits the carpet, and although she was late as usual, the entertainer made the wait worthwhile with her camellia-embellished cape and matching gown, both by Valentino.
4. Nicole Kidman
Like Bündchen, Kidman chose to honor Chanel in a feathery pink silk tulle gown that she wore in her iconic 2004 Chanel ad No. 5. This design is embroidered with 250 pink feathers and more than 3,000 silver crystals and sequins. .
5. Penelope Cruz
The Spanish actress has exceeded all expectations with this dress with a tulle skirt, lots of volume and a fitted body. She has a generous neckline from which the veil that covers her hair is born. The ensemble is packed with sequins, jewel details and a pearl-studded belt.
The five worst looks
1. Kylie Jenner
The Jessica Rabbit moment of Kim Kardashian’s little sister with this red dress with a one-shoulder neckline and an opening on the legs, was not successful. The plus point is that she is a Haider Ackerman design for Jean Paul Gaultier.
2. Lil Nas X
The idea of ’dressing’ Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, does not seem bad to us, but the singer’s interpretation with this silver paint on his body sends him to the list of the worst.
3. Jenna Ortega
The actress’s corseted bodice, ruffled skirt and draped chains looked rather worthy of an episode of her Netflix series, Wednesday.
4. Ariana DeBose
The combination of yellow satin with this kind of leather parka is a bit strange to us. We do not believe that it is the most flattering look for the actress of Schmigadoon.
5. Florence Pugh
That flowery headpiece, drop earrings, and Pugh’s smoky eye makeup ruin the stunning black and white Valentino dress she chose for this occasion.
