Fernando Alonso: “I’m positive in terms of performance”

MADRID, 21 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) was “positive” and “optimistic” for the next races due to the “performance” shown by his car lately, starting with the French Grand Prix, although pending the ” reliability”.

“Yes, the car is improving. The car has been going faster and faster in the last few months, we are happy with the performance. Reliability has deprived us of some points, but in the last six races we have been in the points. maintain this consistency in future events,” he said.

The Asturian participated this Thursday in the official press conference prior to the appointment at the Paul Ricard circuit, where he hopes that the streak will continue, although many things have to happen to aspire to the podium. “We need some help (to get to the podium) from the other teams. We always see one or two drop out, there’s always that chance of the top five or six, we saw that at Silverstone in the last few laps, anything that can happen in front of you means that the podium can be there”, he affirmed.

“I am positive. The second part of the season we are optimistic in terms of performance and if we have clean weekends we will get a lot of points and that is the objective,” he added.

In addition, the double world champion referred to the fight in the general classification of the Constructors’ World Cup, Alpine and McLaren right now tied on 81 points. “It’s going to be interesting. We’ve been a little bit faster than them this year, but they’re very strong on Sundays. They always deliver and Lando is getting points every weekend,” he said.

“We need to get more points with both cars. It’s going to be a good fight but I’m optimistic because we’re faster than them,” he finished, already thinking about the appointment in France.
