Felipe VI thanks the Army for the “excellent welcome” of Leonor in La General for the “camaraderie, nobility and loyalty”

“This celebration is not just another one for the Crown.” This is what the King stressed in his speech at the Military Easter this Saturday, January 6. A ceremony in which his daughter, the Princess, made her debut, and which represents the consolidation of the heiress's link with the Army. In this stage, Philip VI has dedicated part of his speech to these first steps of Leonor at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.

“It is the tenth Military Easter that I have the honor of presiding over and it happily coincides with the fact that for the first time the Princess of Asturias is accompanying us; who, as a Lady Cadet, has begun her military training plan this year.” The monarch added: “On December 6, our Constitution turned 45 years old, guiding the free and democratic path taken then by the Spanish people. A little more than a month before, and before the Cortes Generales, the Princess of Asturias swore the Constitution ; thus renewing the Crown's commitment to that path.”

He has highlighted, once again, the connection between the figure of his daughter and the military family: “The enormous pride that both the Queen and I have felt since the Princess had the honor of swearing in the flag last October at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, and thus become part of the great military family”. In addition, the monarch has shared his daughter's first steps in La General and “the great demands that she represents.” “He has had an excellent reception; and we sincerely thank you very much. We are aware that the camaraderie, nobility and loyalty he finds among you is the best incentive that you can have in this first year of military, humanistic and technical training, which will be followed by two more years of intense preparation at the Naval Military School of Marín (Pontevedra) and the General Air Academy of San Javier (Murcia)”.
