Fabio Grosso, dismissed as Lyon coach

MADRID, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian coach Fabio Grosso was dismissed this Thursday as coach of Olympique Lyon, after failing in his attempt to get the club out of the bottom zone, bottom with only seven points in Ligue 1 after 12 games.

“Taking into account the results obtained and after an in-depth analysis of the situation of the professional team, currently 18th in Ligue 1, Olympique Lyonnais has decided to implement the termination of Fabio Grosso’s employment contract,” says the club.

Lyon, champion of France for the last time in 2008, entrusted themselves to Grosso who took charge of the team after a month of competition, replacing Laurent Blanc. However, Lyon has only achieved one victory with the Italian, deepening its decline.

The former Lyon coach also bore the brunt of the violent reception at the Stade Vélodrome a month ago, where Olympique de Marseille fans threw objects at the visiting bus, injuring Grosso. The match was suspended.
