Fabián moves away from Real Madrid and Barça: negotiates to renew

Fabián has been one of the first names on the list of Real Madrid and Barcelona for many months, but this Classic in the transfer market will have to be postponed for at least a year. As AS knew, Due to the economic crisis caused by COVID-19, both clubs consider their incorporation impossible this summer. And so, Naples and You First Sports, the agency representing the player, have resumed negotiations to renew their contract.

The current agreement expires in 2023 and does not provide for a termination clause, which in Italy is not mandatory. In recent days there have been important advances between the parties, although there are still many details to be resolved.

The exbético's new contract would expire in 2025, with a salary that could reach 5 million euros net, more variable. With this salary, the palatial would become the second highest paid player in the squad along with the captain, Lorenzo Insigne, and behind Kalidou Koulibaly (who receives 7 million and could leave in the coming months). Fundamental issue will be the termination clause: Southerners want it to exceed 100 million euros, agents have other ideas. The topic is being discussed.

Shielding the midfielder is a request from Rino Gattuso, who has put his name among the untouchables of the squad. De Laurentiis wants to please his coach, which he does not stop praising (he came to define Ancelotti “an accident”) for having led the whole of the worst crisis in the last decade to Calcio's second best performance in the second round, to win an Italian Cup and stay alive in the Champions League after 1-1 with Barça. Fabián will be a key part of the project in the next season, which will live as an untouchable starter until Eurocup 2021. There, probably, the soap opera will resume, with Madrid and Barça lurking.
