European Leagues Round Up: How did the Dutch teams do?

Have you been catching the latest Europa League games? If you are a football fan, then you probably have been tuning in to see how your favourite teams have been doing. Some teams have been performing better than others but this is always to be expected.

For the Dutch teams in the league, there has been a mixed bag of performances. We thought we would look a bit closer at two matches that took place last week on 18th February to see how they are matching up against their opponents.

Ajax Vs Lille

Ajax is one of the leading teams in the Eredivisie right now, so you have probably heard their name being thrown around by some fans of the Dutch team. They recently came up against Lille during the round of 32 on Thursday 18th February. The match took place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy and things worked out in Ajax’s favour as they managed to snag the win in the end.

The final result was 2-1 to Ajax with goals scored by D Tadic and B Brobbey. The winning goal was scored in the 89th minute which meant that it was quite a close call at the end. Lille did manage to get one goal in which is credited to T Weah at the 72nd minute.

From this performance, Ajax are certainly a team to watch if you plan to increase your chances of winning if you bet on Eredivisie matches this season. They are typically great on the pitch and this win was a good one for them.

PSV Eindhoven Vs Olympiakos FC

Another Dutch team to play in the Europa Round of 32 was PSV Eindhoven who came up against Olympiakos Fc on 18th February. This match took place at the Karaiskakis Stadium in the evening. Unfortunately for PSV Eindhoven, they didn’t manage to win their match and so have lost out in this round.

The final score for the game was 4-2 to Olympiakos FC. E Zahavi scored both goals for PSV Eindhoven with one at the 14th minute and another at the 39th minute. Scoring four goals in total for Olympiakos FC were A Bouchalakis, Y M’Vila, Y El Arabi and G Masouras.

Both teams played well but this was a disappointing result for the Dutch team who had hoped to clinch the win at the end. However, PSV Eindhoven are still at the top of their group with 12 points ahead of Granada.

Final Verdict

As you can see, Dutch fans experienced a mix of emotions off the back of these matches. While Ajax fans would have been elated on the evening of 18th February, PSV Eindhoven fans weren’t so happy with the result. Of course, there are still more matches to be played in the Europa League with some of these teams set to come up against others that have put on notable performances so far. Make sure to tune in to the next matches coming soon.
