An Eibar injured for having lost its first game after ten days and a rising Oviedo met this Wednesday in Ipurua, in an important duel to define the upper part of the table and that was settled in favor of the gunsmiths thanks to a goal of Etxeita in the discount (1-0).
The Oviedo went without complexes to the Guipuzcoan field and the first warning ran from his account in a shot of Jirka from outside the area. Intense minutes of the Asturians who tried again through Matheus head-on.
It was difficult for Eibar to enter the game and it was not until the quarter of an hour had elapsed when, after an assist from Expósito, their striker Quique González finished off with his left from outside the area, but his ball went out.
There was respect between two teams that did not want to take any wrong step. Oviedo did not flinch and continued to insist again with another header from Matheus, which went to the left. Eibar tried to balance the contest, but could not manage to impose its dominance, against a responding Oviedo. In fact, in this first half, Jirka and later Sangalli again had two other opportunities to open the scoring in their favor.
Those from Garitano tried to counter these attacks from Oviedo. After the first half hour, a shot with Tejero’s right from outside the area, again showed that Eibar was alive. Minutes later the same player shot again, in this case from inside the area, but the ball was lost over the end line.

The scoreboard continued with the initial draw and the two teams faced the last minutes of this first period with the logical reserves and with the intention of defending that level at all costs so as not to go to the locker room from behind. Etxeita had the last for the locals, but missed his header from the center of the area.
The two coaches kept their starting eleven at the start of the second period. The meeting continued in the first bars of this second half with the same guidelines as the previous one. The forces were very even and neither of the two teams clearly took command. In view of the situation, Cuco Ziganda chose to put a little more gunpowder up, with the entry into the field of Pombo and especially of the Second’s copichichi, the ex-gunman Borja Bastón.
Garitano also moved the bench, but in his case he bet, on the one hand, to reinforce the defensive line with the entry of Correa and Sielva and on the other to prop up the possibility of scoring, with the entry into the field of play of also Second top scorer, Stoichkov.
The first shot in these minutes corresponded again to Oviedo through Lucas from the right side of the inside of the area. The rain continued to fall and the state of the field worsened by moments and with it the possibility of playing quickly. Garitano gave a coup by giving way to Fernando Llorente in the 74th minute to replace Blanco Leschuv.
The Rioja and world champion thus had his first minutes with the Barça shirt and he was presented with the opportunity to unblock a very stuck match. His entry was a shock, as Stoichkov immediately had the first clear of Eibar in the second half.
Oviedo’s response came with a ball hitting the Oviedo post after a launch by Pombo, the clearest opportunity for the visitors. Nothing was decided when the last minutes were still at stake.
Borja Bastón also warned with a shot from outside the area. There was no moment for relaxation and even less when in minute 84 the Portuguese central defender Venancio retired from the field injured, forcing the locals to play until the end with one less.
The gunsmiths suffered greatly since in the discount Pombo shot the stick again. And when the tie was considered good, Etxeita, after a corner kick, took advantage of a rejection by the Oviedo goalkeeper, to finish off from close by with his right leg, scoring in extremis the 1-0 that gave three valuable points to Eibar
