Eric Bailly returns to Villarreal

MADRID, 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly became a new Villarreal CF player this Saturday, with a contract until June 2025, returning to what was his home seven seasons ago.

“Villarreal CF has reached an agreement with the footballer Eric Bailly, who will wear the yellow jersey until June 30, 2025,” says the club's official statement.

The new groguet center back has passed the medical check-up and will train with the rest of his teammates tomorrow Sunday, starting at 11:30 a.m., at the José Manuel Llaneza Sports City.

Bailly, 29, lands in Vila-real to live his second stage in the Submarino, after the second half of the 2014/15 season – then Villarreal signed him from RCD Espanyol in the winter market – and during the 2015 campaign /16.

The defender, who then debuted with the Ivory Coast senior team, was already under the command of Marcelino García Toral, who since his return to the yellow team a month and a half ago had been pointing out the importance of improving in defense.

His departure from Villarreal was for Manchester United, one of the biggest sales in the club's history, and then he played on loan at Olympique de Marseille. Last summer he joined Besitkas JK and now he returns to Villarreal to shore up and reinforce a team that is only six points away from the relegation zone.
