Tuesday marked the passing of former Georgia mascot Uga X, whose eight-year tenure included back-to-back national championships.

As a member of the English bulldog mascot lineage that commenced in 1955, Uga X commenced his tenure on the sidelines of Sanford Stadium in 2015 at the age of two.

A ceremony marked the retirement of the bulldog named “Que” during the 2023 spring football game of the Bulldogs.

Boom, an additional English bulldog puppy by the name of Uga XI, assumed leadership of the 2023 season.

The Seiler family, headquartered in Savannah, Georgia, and led by Charles Seiler, has preserved the line in mascots for nearly seven decades. Ten-year-old Uga X, according to his family, passed away peacefully in his Savannah residence.

Georgia finished 2015–2022 with a 91-18 record under the mascot Uga X. During that time, the team won the national championships in 2021 and 2022, two Southeastern Conference titles, and seven New Year’s Six bowl appearances.

Following the 2022 season, Uga X retired and was succeeded by Boom (Uga XI). They were introduced in 1955 as a component in a line of British bulldog mascots.

In 2019, Uga X’s tense pregame encounter via Bevo XV, the longhorn steer that serves as the mascot of the Texas Longhorns, in the Sugar Bowl also garnered national attention.

Bevo charged in the direction of Uga X as his handlers attempted to position the two for a pregame photo opportunity.

In doing so, Bevo destroyed the metal barriers that surrounded Uga and caused a brief moment of pandemonium as Uga evaded the obstacle.

Bevo’s handlers secured the 1,600-pound steer on time, ensuring that neither Uga nor the nearby spectators were harmed.

After the situation subsided, the photo opportunity proceeded as planned, with Bevo maintaining his initial stance while facing the stands.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was informed by sources that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is anticipated to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday for a second interview regarding the position of head coach.

Since December 15, when owner Dean Spanos fired previous coach Brandon Staley or general manager Tom Telesco, Harbaugh, and the Chargers remain linked. Harbaugh, an NFL quarterback for a total of fourteen years, was a Chargers player for his final two seasons (1999-2000).

Harbaugh is also scheduled to participate in a second interview by the Atlanta Falcons. Yesterday Tuesday, he conducted his initial interview with Atlanta, sources confirmed to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.

Harbaugh is widely regarded as a highly sought-after candidate in the current postseason hiring cycle due to his successful track record at both the collegiate as well as NFL levels. Michigan defeated Harbaugh to the national championship earlier this month.

During his four-year tenure as head coach of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers (2011-14), Harris compiled a 44-19-1 record. Notably, his squad made a Super Bowl appearance in 2013.

It is known that Harbaugh is the first Chargers candidate to have scheduled another interview. The Chargers have conducted the most head coaching interviews of any team in the NFL, 15.

As of yet, no additional interviews have been scheduled for the general manager position, even though eight candidates have been interviewed.

Robert C. Robbins, president of the University of Arizona, issued the following statement: “I would like to thank Dave for his extraordinary efforts in guiding our athletics program through a turbulent period.”

Dave has consistently demonstrated the utmost integrity, and I am grateful for his collaboration and commitment.
