MADRID, 7 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Dreamland Gran Canaria, current Eurocup champion, was drawn this Friday in Group B of the 2023/24 edition along with Turk Telekom Ankara, Ratiopharm Ulm, Buducnost Podgorica, Aris de Thessaloniki, Mincidelice JL Bourg, 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys, Dolomiti Energia Trento, Slask Wroclaw and U-BT Cluj-Napoca.

According to the draw carried out in Barcelona by the tournament organizers, the ‘Granca’ will begin the defense of their title in that Group B. Although winning the 2022/23 edition had guaranteed him a ticket to play in the Euroleague for the following year, the ‘pío-pío’ club renounced said prize due to financial reasons.

For their part, Joventut de Badalona was drawn in Group A together with Hapoel from Tel Aviv, Umana Reyer Venezia, Cedevita Olimpija from Ljubljana, Prometey Slobozhanske, London Lions, Veolia Towers from Hamburg, Paris Basketball, Besiktas Istanbul and Wolves Vilnius.

In the second major European basketball competition, 20 teams (from 14 different countries) will finally participate, divided into two groups of 10 teams each. The match schedule, with 18 days (all against all in a round trip system), will begin on October 3 of this year and end on February 7, 2024.

The top two from each group will advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the round of 16 will go to those who finished third through sixth in both groups. These knockout phases will be played in a single match, with home field advantage for the best positioned in the previous group phase.
