Diego López will play for Rayo Vallecano next season

MADRID, 2 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Galician goalkeeper Diego López will play the 2022-23 season at Rayo Vallecano, the Madrid club confirmed this Saturday, after arriving free after six seasons at RCD Espanyol.

The 40-year-old veteran goalkeeper was released from the blue and white team on June 30, after the Catalan entity decided not to renew his contract.

In six seasons as a ‘parakeet’, Diego López played 213 official matches, becoming one of the Catalan entity’s historic players. He also set three unbeaten records with RCD Espanyol (First Division, Second Division and in European competition), in addition to the ‘Zamora’ award for the goalkeeper with the fewest goals scored in the silver category, in the 2020-21 season.

The Galician had arrived at the RCDE Stadium from AC Milan, after going through Real Madrid or Villarreal.
