De Paul: “Messi is our leader and older brother”

MADRID, 14 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The midfielder of the Argentine team, Rodrigo de Paul, was full of praise about his teammate Leo Messi, whom he sees as “captain, leader and older brother”, and assured that with the move to the World Cup final in Qatar he is “living a dream difficult to describe”.

“We play for our country, but for us Leo is our captain, our leader, he’s like an older brother, few know what he does to always be the best,” De Paul said in statements collected by the ‘ESPN’ website.

The Atlético de Madrid midfielder stressed that, despite the clear victory and control of the match, they could not “relax for a moment”. “Luckily we have the ‘Beast'”, he reiterated in his praises about the ’10’.

“After the first game we had a hard blow and there was a very nice talk that stayed with me forever. For many today will be the happiest day of their lives, many forget about the problems at home and we were able to make them happy. I Fortunately, I was able to be there again and now I am living a dream that is impossible to describe. Today I will be the happiest person in the world because I reached a world final,” he said.

For his part, striker Julián Álvarez, scorer of two goals against Croatia, was “very happy, personally and for the group”. “We deserved this, we played a great game and we’re in the final, which is what we wanted. We hope to play a great game on Sunday,” he wished.

The Manchester City player acknowledged that his first goal gave them “tranquility” and that “surely” his friends and family had a “bad time, like the whole country”. “But we gave them joy and we are very happy with what we are achieving,” he said.
