De Bruyne named player of the year for the players' union

The PFA (players union in England) has chosen Belgian Kevin de Bruyne as the best player of the season.

The award, in which the players themselves vote, crowned the Manchester City footballer above Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Sadio Mané and Jordan Henderson, from Liverpool, and his teammate Raheem Sterling.

“That your teammates and your rivals vote for you on the field is incredible. Maybe it's strange that I'm the first to win it at City, considering the sheer amount of good players who have been here before, “De Bruyne said.

The Belgian, who is these days with his selection, contributed 20 assists and 13 goals to City, although he ended up finishing second in the table behind Liverpool.

In female category, the award fell into the hands of Beth England, Chelsea player, with which he conquered the Premier League and the League Cup.

Also, Alexander-Arnold did take home the PFA Young Player of the Year trophy. In this category he beat Manchester United footballers Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, Chelsea's Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka.
