David Seaman: “Mikel Arteta’s work at Arsenal is incredible, he’s making the team work”

Former English footballer David Seaman, legend of Arsenal FC’s goal, praised this Thursday the “incredible” work of Spanish coach Mikel Arteta at the helm of the ‘Gunners’, who still have remote chances of winning the Premier League with two to go days to finish.

“It’s all down to Arteta. It’s his first head coaching job, he’s doing an incredible job and making it work. The way he makes the guys play, his faith, the demands he puts on them… and that’s what ends up being put on the pitch,” Seaman told PA Media.

In this way, the former goalkeeper has highlighted “the process” of improvement that began in 2021 when the Basque coach came to the bench at Emirates Stadium and that will lead the team to play in the Champions League for the first time since 2017.

Seaman has remembered when Arteta was criticized for his poor results upon his arrival, but he always had “confidence” in the San Sebastián coach. “I see what Mikel does in the training camp, his enthusiasm and incredible training”, he has valued.

In addition, the new scale for Arteta from the 2023/24 academic year will be the Champions League. “Arsenal will judge him by his performance in the Champions League, but I hope he wins titles because that’s the ultimate goal, that’s where the club has to be, winning titles again,” Seaman said.

Although his chances of lifting the Premier League have vanished in recent weeks, Seaman has felt “enormously proud” for going many days in the lead. In this regard, he has commented that they should “take advantage of it in the following” seasons. “Now Arsenal can compete, it had been a long time since they could do it”, he concluded.
