David Raya arrives on loan to Arsenal de Arteta

The Spanish goalkeeper David Raya has confirmed this Tuesday his arrival at Arsenal on loan for a season and with a purchase option at the end of this season, from Brentford, according to a statement.

The 27-year-old Spanish international started with the ‘Bees’ in all 38 Premier League games last year, after serving at Brentford since 2019. Born in Barcelona, ​​Raya came to England at the age of 16, when he signed for Blackburn Rovers, albeit as a training player.

In 2014 he went on loan to Southport of the National League, to return to Blackburn, a team with which he celebrated promotion to the Championship and played 108 games with the first team. Already at Brentford, Raya played a total of 161 games, receiving the EFL golden glove in his first season for his performances in the Second Division. In addition, he was key in the victory over Swansea City in the 2021 Championship qualifying final to ensure the presence of the ‘Bees’ in the Premier.

He is already an international with Spain, making his debut in March 2022 in the victory (2-1) against Albania. He fixed on the lists of former coach Luis Enrique Martínez, was part of the team that played in the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year, and is champion of the most recent League of Nations in 2023.
