The Spanish couple formed by Daniela Álvarez and Tania Moreno stayed one step away from the podium this Saturday at the European Beach Volleyball Championship, which was held at the Koenigsplatz in Munich (Germany), after losing (2-1) against the Dutch Katja Stam and Raisa Schoon.
The Asturian Daniela Álvarez and the Madrid Tania Moreno were very close to the medal in their first continental competition in the senior category. After winning the U-22 European Championship and after achieving bronze in the VW Beach Pro Tour Future in Balikesir, the Spanish fell with honor in the fight for third position.
The Álvarez-Moreno tandem finished the group stage as leaders to directly access the round of 16. The young players continued to accumulate victories until reaching the semifinals, where they lost 2-0 (21-14/21-17) against the current champions, the Swiss players Brunner/Hüberli.
The Spaniard and Madrid recovered and tried to win the bronze this Saturday on the center court of the Koenigsplatz against the pair from the Netherlands. They started adding the first set, but the Dutch came back (19-21, 24-22 and 15-11) in 55 minutes of play.
