Damaris Egurrola signs with Olympique de Lyon until 2024

The Olympique de Lyon, current champion of the Champions Women’s and the French League, has signed the former white Damaris Egurrola after paying around one hundred thousand euros to Everton for his termination clause. The 21-year-old midfielder signs a contract with her new club until June 2024. “When the best team in the world comes looking for you, there is only one possible answer”, said the new player of the French team

Neither Damaris nor Maite Oroz, who is currently a member of Real Madrid, accepted Athletic's renewal proposal last summer, a circumstance that led to some legal problems due to the controversial compensation list. The white club ended up paying the 250,000 euros provided to the rojiblanco; but Damaris, who sounded like Barça, chose to go to England for Everton.

The Olympique of Lyon, champion of the French League for fourteen consecutive seasons and of Europe in the last five editions of the Champions League , made official yesterday that Damaris, European Under-19 champion with Spain and World Sub'20 champion, signed for the remainder of the season and three more. Born in 1999 and trained in Lezama, this left-handed midfielder made her debut with Athletic at the age of 16 and in 2016 she won the League title in 2016, sharing a team with Irene Paredes, the now captain of PSG. After 113 games in five seasons, Damaris signed for Everton a few months ago.

“Thanks for everything! You made me feel at home from day one, coming to a new country, a new team, but you made me feel confident and comfortable right away. These months have been incredible for me, I have had the opportunity to be part of this great team. Debut at Goodison, play a final at Wembley, and play a derby … so many things in such a short time “, indicated Damaris Egurrola herself in her networks to say goodbye to Everton.

Already in Lyon, the former Athletic player indicated that “the last few days have been a bit crazy, but i'm happy and grateful to be here. Here are the best players in the world and I want to learn from them.
