City loses its unbeaten record at Anfield and Arsenal is more of a leader

MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Liverpool took (1-0) the train crash this Sunday with Manchester City at Anfield to recover the pulse of the Premier and endorse the defending champion its first defeat, while Arsenal met earlier (0-1) in Leeds to be more of a leader.

Mohamed Salah scored again six games later and did so with masterful control of Alisson’s pass from the goal. Cancelo measured very poorly as the last defender and the Egyptian scored the goal that would be worth the three points, 13 for Liverpool.

City had their chances, but Haaland was fairly well tied down by the home defence. The match was livened up in the second half, with a save from Ederson to Salah, when he was able to give Diogo Jota the sung goal. Before, City saw the door with Foden.

However, the referee went to VAR to see the play due to a clash between Haaland and Alisson that ended up sanctioning the Norwegian as a foul. The pique moved to the benches, with Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp making gestures to the stands.

The German coach was expelled due to a strong protest and, although City tried, they did not have one as clear as the previous ones. Guardiola’s team is left with 23 points with their first defeat of the course and sees the lead slip away to 27.

Sunday was intense in English football. Arsenal prevailed at Elland Road, where a blackout and power failure halted the match for 40 minutes. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the afternoon in Leeds, without luck a Bamford that replaced Rodrigo.

The local striker had a couple of clear chances and caused a penalty that the referee annulled with the VAR. Leeds is thus approaching the lower zone, with its sixth consecutive matchday without winning, while Arsenal complied for a leadership that it confirmed extended shortly after.

In addition, Chelsea established themselves in the ‘Top 4’ (19) with a 0-2 win over Aston Villa, with two goals from Mount, one in each half. The English striker debuted his scoring account this season to cut Villa’s streak, four games without losing, making the ‘blue’ team a good one, four wins in a row.

Meanwhile, Manchester United took a new false step by not going beyond the goalless draw against Newcastle. Old Trafford took another bad hit although they deserved the victory, which they had on good chances from Casemiro and the last one in added time from Marcus Rashford. The ‘red devil’ are fifth with 16 points.
