The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, made it clear that the French striker Antoine Griezmann has been a player for the red and white team “for many years” and that he has “a great contract”, while he also downplayed last Saturday's defeat in San Mamés, calling it a “bad afternoon.”
“I think everyone knows, he is an Atlético de Madrid player with a great contract, a long contract. I say it and make it clear, Antoine Griezmann is an Atlético de Madrid player for many years,” Cerezo said to his arrival at the 2023 AS Awards gala.
The president also does not forget that the Frenchman “is about” to reach the scoring record in Luis Aragonés' club of 173 goals, which is two goals away. “I think it is a great pride for a player to be able to surpass his previous teammate over time and I think he will surpass it by a lot, because of how much he still has to play,” he said.
