MADRID, 11 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Pablo Carreño has settled his debut in the Bastad tournament (Sweden), in the ATP 250 category and played on clay, by beating the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka (7-5, 6-4) in the first round on Monday, by who has managed to impose himself for the first time in his career.
The Spaniard, number 18 in the world, took advantage of a ‘break’ in the eleventh game, after both contenders impeccably defended their services, to take the lead in the first round.
Already in the second set, he broke the Swiss tennis player’s serve again, sinking to number 290 in the ATP ranking, in the fifth game, which helped him to close the contest in one hour and 25 minutes of play.
Now, Carreño will meet in the second round of the Swedish contest with the winner of Tuesday’s duel between the Spanish Albert Ramos and the Argentine Tomás Etcheverry.
