Carolina Marín leads the victory of Spain in her farewell to the Uber Cup

The Spanish women’s badminton team said goodbye this Tuesday to the Uber Cup 2022, the tournament that brings together the 16 best women’s teams in the world in Bangkok (Thailand), with a victory against Australia (4-1), led by Carolina Marín and that allows the Spanish team to repeat its ninth place from the last edition.

Spain said goodbye in the group stage despite sealing their first victory, after falling to Chinese Taipei (1-4) and China (0-5) in the first days. On this occasion, he was able to count on the six-time European champion, who beat Chen Hsuan-Yu in her only match of the tournament (21-12, 21-18).

Subsequently, Clara Azurmendi defeated Louisa Ma (21-11, 21-13) and Bea Corrales did the same against Tiffany Ho (21-14, 17-21, 21-14). In the first turn of the doubles, Lucía Rodríguez and Ania Setién beat Kaitlyn Ea and Amgela Yu (21-16, 21-15), before the Australians added their first point due to the resignation of Clara Azurmendi and Bea Corrales against Chen Hsuan-Yu and Wendy Chen.

In this way, the team led by Arturo Ruiz repeats the historic ninth position achieved in the previous edition of the tournament.
