Carolina Marín debuts with victory at the Orleans Masters

MADRID, 5 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Carolina Marín made her debut this Wednesday at the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 Category tournament in France for the International Federation circuit, and advanced to the round of 16 as well as the Spanish Kike Peñalver.

Marín, who last week was at the gates of the final at the Madrid Spain Masters, reappeared at the gala event as the first seed with a solid 21-9 and 21-18 victory in just over half an hour over the Danish Line Christophersen.

The Spanish made it 5-0 in direct duels against her first rival in the Orleans Masters, despite the fact that the Dane went as far as 4-5 in the first set. Marín’s forcefulness did not prevent Christophersen from pressing in the second set, more even but equally for the three-time world champion and six-time European champion.

Marín, who in Madrid confessed to the emotional loss of the loss of a loved one, returns to the charge on French soil and will face the Turkish Neslihan Yigit in the round of 16. Meanwhile, Peñalver beat the local Brice Leverdez (21-17, 21-11) and Clara Azurmendi could not with the European runner-up Kristy Gilmour (22-20, 20-22 and 11-21).
