Carlota Ciganda will seek victory in the Spanish Open

MADRID, 4 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish golfer Carlota Ciganda will once again play the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain 2023, an event that closes the Ladies European Tour (LET) and will take place from November 23 to 26 at the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas in Marbella (Málaga ), as confirmed this Wednesday by the organization.

In this way, the Navarrese golfer will close the season of the women’s circuit and her participation is another attraction for an event that will also decide the winner of the Race to Costa del Sol, the LET Order of Merit that crowns the most consistent of the year .

The Spaniard is currently the main reference in national women’s golf and has added to her career seven victories in the LET and two more in the American LPGA, winning each and every one of the tournaments played in Spain. In addition, she is one of the great references of the European Solheim Cup team, achieving four victories in her six participations, being key a few weeks ago in the edition held in Finca Cortesín (Málaga).

Carlota Ciganda played her first Spanish Open in 2007 when she was an ‘amateur’ and became the second youngest player to make the cut at 16 years, 11 months and 11 days. Later as a professional, the Navarrese golfer has participated eight times, with a victory in 2021, two runners-up in 2014 and 2017, and a total of four ‘Top 5’ and four ‘Top 8’.

“I am delighted to play in Spain again and feel again all the energy and excitement that was experienced in the Solheim Cup. Participating in the tournaments that are held in my country is something very special, both for the support of the public and for being surrounded by my family and friends,” Ciganda said.

The Navarrese is “especially” motivated to play the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain. “Not only because it is the tournament that closes the season on the Ladies European Tour and there is a great atmosphere, but because it is going to close one of the greatest years in the history of Spanish women’s golf. It has been a great year for our sport and ending with a victory would be to close a historic year in the best way, but it will not be easy at all, since I will have great players in front of me,” he concluded.
