Carballés says goodbye to Adelaide in the first round

MADRID, 3 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish tennis player Roberto Carballés has said goodbye to the Adelaide (Australia) tournament, the prelude to the Australian Open, after falling on Monday in the first round against Serbian Laslo Djere (7-5, 7-6 (1)).

The man from Tenerife, number 79 in the world, survived two ‘break’ balls against him in the sixth game, but could not prevent the Balkan from breaking in the last of the first set.

Nor was he able to break his rival’s serve in the second set, in which, although he neutralized two match points, he succumbed in the ‘tiebreak’ after more than two hours of play.
