Butragueño: “What has come out has come out, we have to be prepared”

MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The director of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid, Emilio Butragueño, wanted to be respectful with his rivals and remind him that the Champions League “is special”, which requires every second to overcome a first phase in which they will face Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic (ESC) in Group F.

“Congratulate Carlo and Benzema for these well-deserved recognitions without a doubt. We are very proud of both of them, two extraordinary professionals, very committed to the club,” he told Movistar Plus, reported by Europa Press.

The Whites’ leader, present at the draw this Thursday in Istanbul, praised his coach and the French striker, awarded as the best of the year by UEFA. “Karim is a privilege to be able to count on a player like him, for football it is a blessing. He has assumed leadership that has made him a fundamental player”, he affirmed.

“We are happy with him and for Carlo too, who has mixed a group and has led us to a very successful season. The fans played a fundamental role”, he added, recalling the successes of last season with the conquest of the League and the Champions League.

“We are talking about the Champions League, we know that each match is extremely difficult. The importance of these matches, especially for those who face Real Madrid. You have to face it with enthusiasm. Last season was magical in every way. That fighting spirit, winner, is what we are going to try once again to put on the pitch”, he stated.

On the other hand, the ‘Buitre’ explained that they will have to be serious in the group stage although they were lucky a priori with their rivals. “What we always want is to win every game. Leipzig is a team that reached the semi-finals a few years ago, top level,” he said.

“Shakhtar we already know each other and Celtic that above all there will be an atmosphere. We have to be prepared, this competition is very special, every minute can be decisive. What has come out has come out,” he settled.
