Bribon 500 and Stella lead the Viajes InterRías Trophy after a spectacular first day

Juan Carlos I followed the competition in Sanxenxo

The Pontevedra estuary offered this Friday an unbeatable day of regattas for the 24 6-meter boats that until Sunday are competing in the InterRías Trophy, a regatta organized by the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, where Juan Carlos I followed the competition from the support pneumatics of the Rogue 500.

With a stable wind from the North that went from less to more -from eight to 14 knots- and a shining sun, the start was perfect for the third round of the 6 Meter Spanish Cup, with the June World Cup just around the corner. corner.

The Open Hotel Carlos I Silgar division was the first to start the regattas, with a Stella that was able to take advantage of the wind and won both races of the day. In Classics -the units built before 1970-, there is more Spanish representation, up to six boats out of a total of 11.

On this first provisional podium of the Viajes InterRías Trophy, the Galician sailors are the protagonists: two are units from the RCN from Sanxenxo, with a strong Bribon 500 in first place and Titia in third, and one from the CM from Canido, Caprice, from the patron Inigo Echenique. Frenchman “Dix Août”, the president of the International 6m class Louis Heckly, is the best ranked foreign participant, in fourth place.

On board the Bribon 500, owned by owner José Cusí, today Ross McDonald has been in charge of carrying the rod, since Pedro Campos and Juan Carlos I have followed the tests from the team’s support boat. Current world and European champions, they have sailed consistently winning both races.
