The Ministry of Racial Equality of Brazil has condemned this Thursday the installation of a doll with the shirt of the Real Madrid striker Vinicius Júnior on a bridge near the Sports City in Valdebebas in the hours before the Copa del Rey derby that this country faces Thursday (9:00 p.m.) to the white team with Atlético de Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“We repudiate the racist act in reference to the hanging of the Brazilian player Vinicius Júnior by Atlético de Madrid fans. Acts of racism and xenophobia will not be tolerated by the Brazilian Government,” the ministerial portfolio has indicated.

Likewise, he has urged that the Brazilian population be treated with respect, in reference to hate speech against black people. At the same time, he recalled that the Ministry has recently promulgated a law on racial insults to deal with this type of cases.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also reiterated its rejection of racism, offering solidarity with the Brazilian player, “just two days after the celebration of the World Day of Afro-descendant Culture.”

The League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Association of Spanish Football Players (AFE) have expressed their “strong” condemnation hours before, remarking that “intolerance and violence have no place in our sport” and urging the investigation of the facts.
