Bilbo Futsal disappears

Bilbo Futsal disappears. He began his career in 1988, taking over from the Caja Bilbao, and was one of the references, but the blind is lowered due to the “infeasibility of achieving a sufficient budget”.

The club has been a regular in national categories, achieving successes in both the men's and lately the women's categories. But the Board of Directors is forced to make “the sad decision” to say goodbye to its entire structure, after a “hard adventure” of which they feel “proud” to be the “flag” of Biscayan and Basque futsal.

From the Bilbo Fútbol Sala they point out that “at first, the possibility of disappearing was unthinkable.” However, “certain circumstances” and the fact of not being able to make a budget that guarantees the future, force them “responsibly to end a precious path”.

From the moment the Spanish Federation officially notified that there would be no relegation in the First Division, the club set to work in two possible scenarios in order to face a future conditioned by the professionalization plan. After agreeing with the coaching staff on its continuity, improvement needs and possible changes in the squad, necessary to provide sports continuity in both scenarios, were put on the table.

One was to play in First. For this, it was necessary to incorporate a significant number of new players who improved the level and who paid more dedication to the team. In addition, the technical staff considered a restructuring of the workforce and greater commitment necessary.

The second is to play in Segunda. With players with a young profile and with room for improvement and adaptation, and thus being able to look to the future with a different vision. Neither has been feasible. To participate in Primera it was necessary to substantially increase the budget and the search for sponsors has not been positive. Although it was thought that maintaining the block of players and with adequate reinforcements, with a serious and real budget, the club would try with all their might.

And to participate in Segunda “we have found a lack of players and collaboration to work together and strengthen existing projects that have reached the top of the national scene. In view of the results, this in our community does not seem possible ”, they emphasize.
