Barça shines in San Mamés and approaches the final of the Queen’s Cup

Victory of the culés against Athletic (0-3) in the first leg of the semifinals

MADRID, 7 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona Femení won this Thursday 0-3 on their visit to Athletic Club, with two goals from Aitana Bonmatí, and put their qualification on track for the final of the Queen’s Cup, after shining at the San Mamés Stadium on the day they the Swedish Fridolina Rolfö reappeared.

The usual field of the ‘lions’ was reopened to welcome the ‘lionesses’, but the hope faded a quarter of an hour into the game. In a short corner between Claudia Pina and Caroline Graham Hansen, the Norwegian passed the ball to Bonmatí in the left corner of the area.

Barça’s ’14’, without close marking, controlled and positioned herself until she executed a left-footed shot that the local goalkeeper, Adriana Nanclares, could only graze and did not prevent the ball from entering the top corner. Just two minutes later, Bonmatí scored his and his team’s second goal.

Again as a clutch in the culé attack, Graham Hansen rushed a ride to the baseline; The Norwegian cut back to a defender and gave the ball back, still inside the area, and once again Bonmatí took advantage of his unmarked position to make it 0-2 with a right foot that served as a Vaseline.

Perhaps intimidated by the situation, Athletic reached the break without having shot at the goal defended by Sandra Paños, or even outside. Although Jonatan Giráldez’s pupils slowed down in the second half of the duel, Rolfö’s entry onto the field encouraged the visiting team.

Injured since the beginning of September 2023, the presence of the Swede spurred the other Barça forwards. In the 79th minute, after a loss of the ball by Naia Landaluze on the balcony of her area, Patri Guijarro combined with Salma Paralluelo and she advanced to beat Nanclares low.

In injury time, Paralluelo herself sent a counterattack shot through the clouds. Despite everything, the superiority of the Blaugranas was evident and they left their ticket for the final of the tournament more than on track, although first they will have to close this ‘semi’ on March 14 (9:00 p.m.) on the grass of the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
