Barça sells Coutinho to Aston Villa for 20 million euros

MADRID, 12 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Brazilian player Philippe Coutinho will no longer belong to FC Barcelona after the agreement with Aston Villa, the club where he has played since last January with a great performance, which will pay 20 million euros for the culé attacker.

“FC Barcelona and Aston Villa have reached an agreement for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho for 20 million euros. The Blaugrana club reserves 50% of the capital gains from a future sale of the player,” the Catalan entity reported in a release.

“FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Philippe Coutinho for his commitment and dedication and wishes him good luck and success in the future,” says the culé club, where Coutinho has not been able to shine as expected.

The international with the ‘canarinha’ has played a total of 106 games with Barça spread over four seasons. He has scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists, although he did not enjoy continuity except for the 2018/19 campaign, where he played 34 league games.

Coutinho, European champion with Bayern two seasons ago in one of his assignments, leaves Barça having won five titles: two Copas del Rey (2017/18 and 2019/20), two Leagues (2017/18 and 2018/19) and a Spanish Super Cup (2018/19).
