Barça continues its party in Ceuta

MADRID, 19 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona beat Ceuta, the RFEF Primera team, (0-5) this Thursday to access the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, a cup event without scares for Xavi Hernández’s team to maintain their title options shortly after lift the Super Cup.

The Barça team continued their party four days after beating Real Madrid in Riyadh and lifting the first trophy of the season. With the announcement that their debut in the Cup against Intercity meant, capable of scoring three goals and reaching extra time, Barça was serious and effective on their visit to the Municipal Alfonso Murube.

The Catalan team was not a gale at the start, as it was blowing at times in the Autonomous City, but they made no mistakes and gradually increased the intensity. Raphinha calmed down shortly before the break and Lewandowski did the same in a good visitor restart, Barça willing not to speculate.

For many minutes the match for the king of cups was not so placid. Ceuta pressed on him and also wanted to be the protagonist with the ball, something that would end up punishing him. Rodri, a striker with experience in the First and Second Division, promptly notified Eric García and Reina, a quality midfielder, had the vision of the game that his team needed to reach the rival field.

Xavi’s men lacked rhythm and were forced to play on the outside, well covered on the inside, Sergi Roberto and Pablo Torre. The first half passed without chances, except for an arrival by Bellerín who finished off Raphinha outside, and a very similar play that Ceuta had. A header from Rodri to the side of the net reminded the public of the category of the game, but Barça did not hesitate.

With pick and shovel, without going crazy, yes, Kessié launched one of the few exits inside and Raphinha, with time to finish off, did not forgive a shot placed from the edge (0-1). With Lewandowski in his pique with the defenders, Barça returned after passing through the changing rooms with the ‘Intercity motto’ to close the game and the Pole made it 0-2 after five minutes.

The slab for Ceuta was already very heavy, even more so with the entry of Gavi and shortly after Ansu Fati, Xavi distributing minutes with the debut at the end of the youthful Ángel Alarcón. The recent MVP of the Super Cup final took control of the midfield and the striker killed at speed to make it 0-3. Ceuta became a spectator of a partying Barça, who still looked for more goals.

The locals wanted their goal of honor but behind the back Xavi’s team was lethal. Kessié made the fourth header and Lewandowski finished off the job with the fifth. Barça thus extends its sweet moment, all victories in 2023, without complicating in Ceuta to be in the quarterfinal draw this Friday.
