Austrian Dominic Thiem will return to the ATP circuit at the AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2022

MADRID, 24 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Austrian player Dominic Thiem, former number 3 in the world and winner of the US Open 2020, will play the AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2022, which will be held from March 27 to April 3 at Puente Romano Beach Resort in Marbella, after receiving the last of the three invitations available to the organization of the tournament.

Thiem played his last match on the circuit almost nine months ago, when at the Mallorca Championships last June he had to withdraw after only seven games had been played in the match, after suffering pain in his right wrist that ended up being diagnosed as a muscle tear.

That injury has kept him out of the competition ever since. However, at the Andalucía Open 2022 he will have the opportunity to return. Thiem has 16 ATP Tour titles under his belt, in addition to the aforementioned ‘Grand Slam’, including the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells in 2019 and a runner-up finish in the ‘ATP Finals’ 2020.

Between the years 2019 and 2020 he signed a balance of 9 wins and 3 losses against Djokovic, Nadal and Federer, which made him, along with Andy Murray, the only player with at least five wins against each member of the ‘Big 3’.
