Australia will seek the ticket against Peru after defeating the United Arab Emirates

MADRID, 7 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Australian team will seek qualification for the Qatar World Cup against Peru in the final playoff of the AFC-Conmebol after beating the United Arab Emirates (1-2) on Tuesday in the fourth and last round of the Asian playoff, where the ‘aussies’ compete.

Australia managed a long-suffering victory that materialized six minutes from time with a goal from Ajdin Hrustic. The German Eintracht player, champion of the Europa League this season, became the hero of his team after a very close game where the Emiratis ended up focused on the rival goal.

Jackson Irvine opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, but Caio equalized for the United Arab Emirates just four minutes later. Everything pointed to extra time, but Hrustic changed the fate of Australia, which will face Peru in a single match at a neutral venue on June 13 at the Ahmed bin Ali stadium in Qatar.

The winner of this match will be part of group D together with France, Denmark and Tunisia. This playoff will decide the 31st team of the event, the penultimate, waiting for Costa Rica and New Zealand to settle the last ticket at Al Rayyan Stadium, one day later than the Peruvians and Australians.
