Atlético takes advantage of the ‘gifts’ of a blurred Rayo

Those of Cholo abuse the local defensive weakness to sentence in the first part and are second

MADRID, 28 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Atlético de Madrid made the most of Rayo Vallecano’s defensive errors to achieve a historic win (0-7) in the derby in Vallecas, which closed the third day of the EA Sports League, and placed second in the table behind Real Madrid thanks to goals from Antoine Griezmann, Memphis Depay, Nahuel Molina, Álvaro Morata, with two, Ángel Correa and Marcos Llorente.

The fight in Vallecas lasted just two minutes, the time it took Antoine Griezmann to send an assist from De Paul into the net and feed the doubts of a Rayo who had started the season again in an overwhelming way, with two away wins, despite Francisco’s replacement by Andoni Iraola.

These unknowns were added with a failed clearance by Aridane, who ended up in the boots of Depay’s opportunism to make it 0-2 just after fifteen minutes and shortly before the former Barça striker left wrapped in lament over an untimely injury that separated him from the visiting recital.

With an erratic and unknown Lightning, Nahuel Molina broke the offside line to beat a Dimitrievski impotent under the efficiency exercise of Cholo Simeone, who barely had to press the accelerator to sentence (0-3) before of the rest a duel that seemed more fought.

After the break and the entry of Nteka, Rayo improved in the opening minutes but it was a mirage. Atlético, more vertical than ever and taking advantage of the spaces behind their rival, completed the rout with two counterattacks culminated by Morata, and another two by Correa and Marcos Llorente.

The victory confirms the good athletic start, which, with 7 points, is only surpassed by Real Madrid, with 9, while Rayo drops to eighth place with 6 before visiting Betis next Saturday. The rojiblancos will host bottom club Sevilla on Sunday at the Cívitas Metropolitano.
