The bus chartered by the Atlético de Madrid Foundation and the Community of Madrid has already embarked on the journey back to Spainfrom Warsaw, with 36 Ukrainian refugeesafter deliver basic necessities in the Polish capital.
Atlético de Madrid confirmed that the vehicle picked up the refugees last morning, will be received this Friday in Madrid, after transferring material to Warsaw for families affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The bus arrived in the Polish capital this Wednesday after traveling more than 2,800 kilometers, with a load that included coats, blankets, shoes, personal hygiene products, diapers and non-perishable food.
The vice-president of Atlético de Madrid, Antonio Alonso, heads the expedition, which includes a medical team and members of the Fire Department of the Community of Madrid. The vehicle left the Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Monday after a farewell ceremony in which the club’s CEO participated, Miguel Angel Gil; the honorary president of the Club Foundation, Adelardo Rodríguez; the Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín; the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Security and Emergencies Madrid 112, Carlos Novillo Piris; and Esteban Rivaspresident of the bus company of the same name.
