Atleti loses another train in Ipurua

Simeone's show their impotence against a very tidy Eibar

MADRID, Jan. 18 (SportsFinding) –

Atlético de Madrid dipped his knee in his visit to Ipurua (2-0) in a poor performance of the mattresses, unable to find a ray of light against Eibar, and overwhelmed by the lack of play in a duel, the first of the second round, which was marked by heavy rain.

The rojiblancos are still hurt after their defeat in the final of the Spanish Super Cup and left 'touched' of Ipurua. Atleti improved his game in the second half, but it didn't help to change his luck. The first part and the strength of the Eibar ended up condemning their intentions. There was no miracle, or Oblak stops preventing a new defeat, the third of this season in the League.

Atlético had a bad start, without intensity and at the mercy of Mendilibar's pupils. The direct game of the Blaugranas dwarfed the mattresses from the beginning, good proof of this was the shot of Pedro León at five minutes. Five later came 1-0 with a dose of suspense, after Esteban Burgos finished off in a doubtful position.

The referee annulled the goal for offside, but the VAR changed its decision and allowed Burgos's shot, with the sole and free mark, to rise to the scoreboard. The reply was positive, but it took time to arrive. Joao Felix was the first to try his luck and Correa followed in his footsteps with another somewhat loose shot.

Vitolo added his name to the list of occasions, but none ended up disturbing Dmitrovic's goal. In fact, the reaction appeared in the final quarter-hour before an Eibar always well planted, with the solidity of his stadium and the hunger that his opponent had not shown.

Everything changed in the second half, but neither did Atlético's goal. Arias had a sensational volley at 51 minutes and Morata headed a center of Saul with 20 left until the end, but it was not the day. Not even Lodi could score with a cross shot in a more comfortable position, although later the action was canceled out of play.

SIMEONE SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE CLUB

Joao Felix also kept trying but his impotence and gestural language speak for him at this time of the season. His youth and lack of charisma generate more anxiety than good performance and Simeone ended up replacing him ten minutes from the end by the youth player Sergio Camello.

This was not the only player of the subsidiary that played against Eibar. Simeone also gave minutes to Oscar Clemente, who debuted with the rojiblancos, sending a message to the box in the absence of troops. None of them had the opportunity to frighten even the reinforced cement of Eibar at the edge of their area.

To make matters worse, the effort of the locals was rewarded in the 90th minute with a violent shot by Edu Expósito at the exit of a corner. Oblak did not reach the ball, which entered tightly to the post, and signed the triumph of the Basques, who catch air with respect to the relegation zone. On the other hand, the Atleti lets out another train and gives free way to Real Madrid and Barça so that they continue to open the gap in front of the table.
