Eight lions scored five or more goals with Valverde on the bench in a League that ended with qualification for the Champions League
Athletic de Valverde’s first eleven in the new San Mamés in the 2013-2014 season, a season that ended in the Champions League
The 2013-14 League ended with Athletic in fourth position and the passport to the Champions League. The red-and-white team then achieved a total of 66 goals in the League. Aduriz, as always in this second stage of Valverde on the rojiblanco bench, was the top scorer with 16. The contribution of his teammates, however, was not negligible.
Ibai finished that league tournament as the second top scorer with 8 goals, one more than Muniain. Susaeta, meanwhile, was fourth on the list of scorers with 6 goals.
The contribution of the men in midfield did not go unnoticed either. In addition to the versatile De Marcos; Mikel Rico, San José and Ander Herrera finished that League with five goals to their credit. The march of the latter to Manchester United was noted a year later.
