Arrieta Rodriguez and Aingeru Garay, Spain’s absolute champions of SL alpine skiing in the Sierra Nevada

MADRID, 18 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The athletes of the national team of the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation Arrieta Rodríguez (NKEF/IRIMO) and Aigeru Garay (NKEF/LVRD) have become this Thursday the new champions of Spain in the SL discipline of alpine skiing.

In the Andalusian resort of Sierra Nevada, Rodríguez managed to come back in a spectacular second race where he surpassed his national team partner June Garitano (NKEF/IRIMO). Meanwhile, Garay took the two rounds of the SL where he surpassed his teammates Tomás Barata (FCEH / CEVA) and Jonás Sánchez (FCEH / COPOS).

The Aramón Formigal-Panticosa resorts opened the 2024 Spanish Absolute Alpine Ski Championships in a few days of snowfall in the Pyrenees that complicated the preparation of the slope. The SL test scheduled in Astún had to be canceled due to the weather and was moved to the Granada station.

Sierra Nevada will remain open at least until April 28, the last resort in the entire French peninsula and Pyrenees to close the season, since you can still enjoy thicknesses that easily exceed the meter accumulated on slopes in the middle zone.
