Monterrubio arrived at Granada in the 2018-19 season with the team in the Second Division. After the frustration of a hard descent and of not having ascended in the first attempt, he undertook a readjustment plan based on the philosophy of going “one step at a time”. He knew how to land in the economic reality of the Second Division and for that he considered it essential to get the coach right. Diego Martínez, with just two years of experience in the Second Division, was the person chosen. The results couldn't be better.

Its management was based on a sustained growth from the optimization of resources. The sporting aspect was fundamental, but it did not ignore the evolution of the entity. Better in the stadium, different departments, official store and generation of resources.
The arrival of Patricia Rodríguez as a club advisor was the first step towards what has been confirmed this Monday. Monterrubio has experience in managing clubs as complicated as Xerez, where he laid the foundations for his short-lived promotion to Primera or Rayo Vallecano, where he provided stability. His time at Granada has been recognized by fans. But its cycle has closed.
