Anne Hidalgo sees PSG’s offer of 38 million to buy the Parque de los Príncipes as “ridiculous”

MADRID, 27 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The mayoress of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, described this Thursday as “ridiculous” the offer of Paris Saint-Germain to buy the Parque de los Príncipes stadium, owned by the French capital and for which they have a 30-year lease.

“We are in a state of law, so there are procedures and prices must be set that must correspond to the goods. The club offered 38 million euros, I think ridiculous is the right word. There is no longer a possible path,” Hidalgo said in statements to the French radio station RFI.

PSG intends to take ownership of the French stadium before beginning its expansion, now with a capacity for some 48,000 spectators. And the mayoress of the French capital herself acknowledged that there was the “possibility” of selling the stadium to the Parisian club.

“It is true that in the economic model of the big clubs, almost everyone is the owner of the stadiums and, of course, we have studied this argument,” he explained, but at the same time he recalled that it is necessary to “respect” the public rules. “The stadium belongs to the Parisians, it does not belong to me,” he wanted to make clear.

However, Hidalgo confessed that he does not expect PSG to abandon the Parc des Princes in search of another stadium in the city, after L’Equipe published that PSG would formally present its interest in buying the Stade France. “Maybe there’s a bit of bragging or misunderstanding about our democratic rules,” he mused.

“It is true that with us the stadiums do not appear like mushrooms, it is true that you do not arrive with a wad of millions and you become a buyer of any building for any condition,” he added against PSG’s position.
