Anna Caula (Generalitat) claims the role of clubs in women’s sport

The General Secretary for Sport of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Anna Caula, vindicated the role of neighborhood clubs in sport in an institutional visit to the Sant Andreu Swimming Club (CNSA), where she also urged the sports fabric to work in a “multifactorial way ” to change the imaginary of women in the sector.

On the occasion of Women’s Day, Caula recalled that this “is the legislature of women’s sports” and that what were words before are now facts. In this line, she maintained that all agents have to get involved to improve the situation of women in sport and in society.

“All this has to be worked on in a multifactorial way, there is not only one action that will change all this imaginary in which we women still start further, our departure begins kilometers behind. There is still a lot to do,” she said.

Statements that are part of the new campaign of the Generalitat for this March 8: “In feminisms, everything is to start.” Campaign that incorporates an intersectional perspective to address feminist struggles while interpelling all social agents across the board.

Likewise, during his visit, Caula highlighted the importance and benefits of clubs such as CN San Andreu to guarantee gender equality in sport.

“Catalan sport is different, it has its very own DNA based on the club’s culture. The club is the secret to the success of the Catalan sports fabric, it is a way of understanding society and our community, of networking, a feeling of belonging “, he remarked.

With the aim of helping these entities and their plans for the community, the Esport secretary detailed the Generalitat’s support for Catalan sport, materialized in 50% more economic endowment compared to the previous year. The increase of 1.5 million euros will make it possible to reach a total of 4.5 million euros for these entities.
