Amiab Albacete and CD Ilunion will fight for the chair basketball Champions Cup title

MADRID, 13 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Amiab Albacete and CD Ilunion will be the Spanish representatives in the ‘Final Four’ of the 2022-2023 Champions Cup, after the quarterfinal phase of the highest European chair basketball competition this past weekend , from which Bidaideak Bilbao and Econy Gran Canaria were eliminated.

The La Mancha team began the defense of their historic title last year with good feelings and, taking advantage of their status as hosts in one of the groups that made up this phase, went first with full victories.

The team coached by Abraham Carrión fell apart in its debut at the Lepanto de Albacete Pavilion of the Econy Gran Canaria with great authority 80-36 in a match dominated from start to finish by the current champion.

On Saturday, Amiab sealed their pass to ‘F4’ by also beating Turkish Galatasaray 55-86 quite clearly, and on Sunday they certified their candidacy to re-edit their throne in their most demanding match against German RSV Lahn-Dill , whom they defeated 75-66 thanks to a great second half where they raised the 38-46 lead at halftime.

For its part, in Group A, which was played in Germany, CD Ilunion, triple European champion, also won its ticket to the final phase for the title, although in its case it could not do so with full victories.

The Madrid team made its debut against Bidaideak Bilbao, which they beat 88-67, and on Saturday they secured one of the two places by beating Italian Porto Torres 69-93 with solvency. There was also the most demanding match against a German and classic team of this competition like the RSB Thuringia Bulls, who took first place by taking a tight duel by 78-75 after a great quarterfinal by Ilunion.

Amiab and Ilunion will now seek to win this Champions Cup in May in the ‘F4’ that will host the Dutch city of Rotterdam between May 5 and 7, while Bidaideak Bilbao will continue their journey through Europe with Eurocup 1, by finishing third of their group thanks to their victory against Porto Torres by 82-62. However, Econy Gran Canaria said goodbye this season after losing to Galatasaray 82-70.
