Almirón: “The team is alive, we are going to continue competing”

“I have a lot of faith that we are going to reverse them, I think we played a good game and deserved much more”, assured the Elche CF coach

MADRID, 1 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Elche CF coach, Jorge Almirón, assured that he sees the team “alive” and expressed his confidence in “reversing” the situation in the standings, after the new defeat (0-1) against Getafe on matchday 12 of LaLiga Santander and that places the blanquiverde at 6 points of permanence.

“It’s a very hard blow because of how the match was played. The approach was that of an even and tough match, but we had our ‘chances’ and many approaches. it was possible”, he said at a press conference in reference to the missed penalty by Lucas Boyé in the final stretch.

Jorge Almirón confessed that the game against Getafe was “very important” and stressed that Elche “left everything”, but that football was unfair. “The team has shown that it is alive, but when the results are adverse there are things that are difficult to explain. Today we compete and we will continue to compete. The penalty changed everything: ending up attacking and with the possibility of winning,” he lamented.

In this sense, Almirón affirmed that the franjiverde were “closer to winning”. “The team did not lower their arms. It is difficult to explain with a defeat like this. There is still a lot to play for and we have to recover because we are going to compete very soon. I have a lot of faith that the team will turn it around. Today I think they played a good game and he deserved much more. I see positive things”, underlined the Argentine coach.
