Alex Collins, former Seattle Seahawks player, dies at 28

SEATTLE (UNITED STATES), 15 Aug. (tca/dpa/EP) –

The ex ‘running back’ of the Seattle Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens Alex Collins has died this Tuesday, at the age of 28 and without details about the cause of death, as confirmed by the two clubs and their agent, Kelli Masters.

“As many of you have already heard, Alex Collins passed away this morning. My heart is broken and I am lost. Alex, you were loved by so many. You impacted lives with your joy and positive, caring spirit…and that big smile. I was very honored to be your agent,” Masters wrote on social media.

The representative confirmed the news that the two NFL clubs in which he played, the Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens, have already announced. “Absolutely heartbroken. Prayers are with the Collins family,” the Seahawks said of the 28-year-old, though without immediate details on his cause of death.

A running back and a fifth-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2016, Collins was one of the most popular players among the Seahawks fans, thanks to his Irish dancing touchdown celebrations.

Collins played in 11 games with 125 rushing yards as a rookie in 2016 for the Seahawks before being waived and signed by Baltimore the next two seasons. He returned to the Seahawks in 2020 and played 3 games that season and another 11 in 2021 with Seattle. He was Seattle’s second-leading rusher that year with 411 yards and two touchdowns.

His 2021 season was ended by an abdominal injury before the final game of the season. No longer participating in the NFL, he did play this spring with the Memphis Showboats of the American Football League in the United States.
