The Spanish international Álex Abrines confessed that this Sunday’s duel against the United States will be “very tough and very physical”, but at the same time an opportunity to “continue improving” in preparation for the World Cup in two weeks.
“Wanting to continue improving, against an opponent that everyone thinks is the favourite. Wanting to do things very well. It’s a very tough game, very physical, it’s a young team that plays at a high level, running a lot”, he said in statements provided by the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB).
Abrines highlighted the difficulty of a United States in which “the difference between 1 and 5 is not very big.” “We will have to attack in a different way,” he said before Spain’s second and last match in the FEB Centenary Tournament that is taking place at the Martín Carpena in Malaga.
“Our strength is in the team game. Playing a game perhaps not spectacular but moving the ball a lot, making the defense work. Defending for 24 seconds is very difficult, we always look for the open man,” he said.
