Defender Aitor Paredes and Athletic Club have reached an agreement to extend his contractual relationship with the red-and-white club for four more seasons, so that the center-back will be a ‘lion’ until at least June 30, 2029, as confirmed this Thursday the Ibaigane club through a statement on its website.
The footballer from Arrigorriaga, trained in Lezama from a young age and who finished his contract next season, is offering great performance this season, in which he has already accumulated 32 games of the 49 he has played with the first team, consolidating himself as one of the important players in the defense of Ernesto Valverde’s team, with whom he debuted as a scorer in the 0-2 victory against Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Paredes signed the new contract on Thursday morning in San Mamés in the presence of the president of Athletic Club, Jon Uriarte, and, as is usual in the Biscayan club, he did so based on an agreement framed in “the line drawn by the Board Directive”, with a fixed salary structure and “a variable component based on objectives”.
The general director of football, Mikel González, classified this renewal as “very positive”, since he is a “young player who is performing at a very high level.” “He is an example because he entered Lezama in the first recruitment and has gone all the way to the first team.
