Miguel Méndez: “We have met all the objectives”

The coach celebrates the team’s progression in Vigo

MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The national basketball coach, Miguel Méndez, valued Spain’s good start these days after the victory (70-46) over China in the second game of the Vigo tournament, where they were able to meet “all the objectives.”

“We came here to train, to get the team going and we played two games to find a competitive rhythm after a long time without the players playing,” she said in statements to the media of the Spanish Basketball Federation.

The Galician coach valued the stop in Vigo as a first step in the preparation tour for the Olympic Games, which are still just over a month away, improving performance against China after what was seen on Friday against Turkey. “Today we were, in terms of competitive pace, better than the other day,” he stated.

“More sparkling, everything that has nothing to do with systems, with playing by concepts, with the players’ knowledge of each other has turned out better. I think we have had a match in which we have met all the objectives,” she concluded, after of a great victory over a China that will be Spain’s rival in the debut at the Paris 2024 Games.

After a few days of rest, Spain will travel to Charleroi to face the current European champion and with whom they played in the Eurobasket final last summer, Belgium, on July 12, and a day later they will play against Canada. Before traveling to Paris, the team will play two more games in the Pedro Delgado pavilion in Segovia: 22 and 24, against Australia and again Canada.
