Miguel Ángel Ruiz, former Atlético de Madrid player and representative of the club in the draw for the semifinals of the Copa del Rey 2023-204, predicts a “very close” tie against Athletic Club and I regret not being able to have the second leg at the Cívitas Metropolitan.
“It's going to be a very close semi-final. If I had to choose what I would have liked, I don't know, because I could also say that I wouldn't have liked Real Sociedad, which is like a 'cannon' now, and Mallorca is a team that competes to the death,” Ruiz expressed to the media after the semifinal draw.
The former Colchonero player stressed that what left him “a little bit” slowed down is not being able to play” the second leg at the Cívitas Metropolitano, although he recalled the beauty of playing for the pass at San Mamés. “It crossed my mind when it came out that if I go back to my time as a footballer I would give money to play this second game. I loved playing on that field and that strength that their fans gave them,” he confessed.
