The Asturian capital vibrates in the days before the Princess of Asturias awards ceremony. The protagonist of this new edition, the award-winning Meryl Streephas turned Oviedo upside down and after marking some steps to the rhythm of bagpipes, he has starred in a fun and emotional encounter with Antonio Banderas at the Exhibition and Congress Palace.
A meeting that 165,000 people were able to attend and whose tickets were sold out in just half an hour. It was a talk-colloquium between two colleagues where complicity and affection could be grasped with your hands and in which Banderas did not miss the opportunity to joke with the actress: “She has 21 Oscar nominations and I only have one nomination. I only have 20 to go.”
Streep, dressed in a classic-cut tailored suit and vintage shirt, has reviewed her film career from the beginning: Manhattan, Kramer contra Kramer o The House of Spirits, based on the best-seller by Isabel Allende and in which he shared the cast precisely with Antonio Banderas. After, The Bridges of Madison, Sophie’s Choice and comedies like The Devil Wears Prada or the musical Mamma Mia. An extensive and varied career for which she will receive the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts this Friday.
